When you think of Scarpa, you think of mountain boots. Like precious few other brands, the traditional company made from Asolo in northern Italy stands for decades of tradition in producing high-quality and durable mountain boots. Scarpa designs and sustainably produce the most innovative shoes to reach every summit. Scarpa is a company that knows how to listen, whether athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, connoisseurs of nature, or newcomers just discovering a new passion for themselves.
Scarpa, from its origins to a global company
Scarpa is a company that specialises in producing outdoor footwear for mountaineering, climbing, trail running, walking, ski mountaineering, telemarking, and the urban outdoor sector. Founded in 1938 in Asolo, province of Treviso, as Società Calzaturieri Asolani Riuniti Pedemontana Anonima (hence the abbreviation S.C.A.R.P.A.), the company now has subsidiaries in Germany, the USA, and China, as well as production facilities in Romania and Serbia.
60% of production occurs in Italy, in the heart of the Venetian shoe district. Scarpa produces high-quality, highly technical shoes that are developed in collaboration with top professional athletes but are suitable for every outdoor enthusiast who - like the company - explores the mountains and fully respects nature.
Today, the brand is known for demanding mountain and climbing shoes and high-quality ski touring, trekking, hiking, trail running, approach, children, and lifestyle footwear.
Scarpa: footwear for all types of alpine sports
Scarpa is one of a few alpine boot brands that cover all outdoor activities: climbing, mountaineering, trail running, walking, trekking, and the approach. In addition to the expedition mountain boots in the Phantom range, there are not only technical mountain boots in the Ribelle series and classic hiking boot models such as the Mojito Trail, but also the Rush range. Compared to the F1 family and the Maestrale series, ultra-light racing boots like the Alien continue joining the ski touring range. Scarpa also impresses with a wide range of products for climbing. Among the climbing shoes, you will find a variety of different lasts, including women's climbing shoe models specially adapted to the shape of the female foot.
Diverse, diverse sponsored athletes
Scarpa looks back on a long list of prominent mountaineers who were kitted out with mountain boots made from Asolo - furthermore, extreme mountaineer Nirmal Purja, the first person to reach the summit of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu within 48 hours. He also achieved the first winter ascent of K2. In addition, the brand equips a colourful mix of athletes - from ski legends like Bode Miller to young climbing talents like Hannah Meul to mountain and ski touring experts like Jörn Heller.
The brand portfolio is also aligned accordingly. Mountain boots such as the Ribelle HD, heavy expedition mountain boots such as the Phantom series, or ultra-light ski touring boots such as the Alien are joined by classic hiking boots such as the Mojito Hike GTX from the Scarpa Mojito range or the newly designed Mescalito Trk GTX, a classic trekking boot.
Scarpa Mojito - classic lifestyle footwear
When product designer and Scarpa co-owner Christina Parisotto showed up at a meeting over 10 years ago with a new creation of her own, she had no idea at the time that her new design would become a classic among Scarpa's lifestyle shoes and that today, it would be impossible to imagine the product range without it. In the meantime, the classic Mojito has been joined by other versions, such as the Mojito Planet or a mid-height version with a Gore-Tex membrane for the colder seasons. Hardly any other shoe is available in as many colours as the Mojito. Whether in fresh, bright colours or more subdued tones - the Mojito goes with any casual wear look.
Mojito Bio for a sustainable design
Scarpa focuses more on sustainable development with the Mojito than any other shoe. Overall, the brand pursues the goal of making the entire product life cycle ecologically sustainable, starting from the extraction of raw materials to the recycling of the products.
In addition, Scarpa produces half of its products in Italy to minimise logistics processes and save CO2 emissions. The Italians are increasingly working with sustainable partners committed to developing sustainable materials, such as Pebax Rnew. Scarpa's commitment to sustainability is very much manifested in the Mojito Bio, a lifestyle shoe that is 100% biodegradable.
Ribelle line, innovative all-round mountain boots
Expedition mountaineers like Hervé Barmasse or Mathieu Maynadier have Scarpa to thank for developing an innovative range of shoes - the Ribelle series. The different Ribelle styles are aimed at male and female mountaineers who like to take things a little quicker and are looking for a shoe perfectly adapted to the demands of the mountain.
The Ribelles are also at the forefront of design and will likely shape Scarpa's market strategy in the coming years. There are:
- the Ribelle HD for alpine routes and treks
- the Ribelle Lite HD for mountaineering
- the Ribelle Tech 2.0 / 3.0 HD for athletic mountain routes and speed climbers
With trail running shoes from Scarpa, such as the Ribelle Run, the Golden Gate Kima RT, the Spin Infinity or the Spin Ultra GTX, the Italians have also successfully conquered the trail running market and are playing an increasingly important role in this sector alongside the established running shoe brands.
Scarpa: footwear for all mountain sports
Scarpa is one of the few mountain shoe brands that really cover all outdoor activities: climbing, mountaineering, trail running, walking, and trekking. Not to mention stylish every day or travel shoes like the Mojito, which you can wear to the office and the city. If Scarpa continues as it is, the company will remain one of the innovation engines of the industry.
