Salomon: Innovation and Quality since 1947

Salomon's story begins in 1947 in the heart of the French Alps, in Annecy, to be precise. Founded by François Salomon and his family, the company began with the manufacture of saw blades and ski edges. In the 1950s, they developed the first safety ski binding with automatic release and thus found their true passion: alpine winter sports. Since then, Salomon has expanded its portfolio considerably but has always maintained its focus on innovation and quality. In addition to ski boots, skis, and other winter sports equipment, such as ski goggles, the range also includes outdoor and running equipment characterized by durability and maximum performance. Thanks to waterproof and robust winter shoes from Salomon, you will also find suitable footwear for the cold season off the slopes. Today, Salomon is part of Amer Sports, one of the world's leading sporting goods companies.

Higher, faster & further with Salomon

Salomon has shaped the outdoor world with many sporting milestones and fresh ideas. After pioneering ski bindings and the SX90 ski boot at the end of the 70s, they ventured into skis and snowboards for the first time in the 90s. Salomon's relentless drive to always be at the forefront and push the boundaries of what is possible in outdoor sports is particularly evident in the footwear sector: with the Salomon trekking and hiking boots, the brand has held a strong position on the market since the Adventure 7 was launched in 1992. Salomon trail running shoes, in particular, gained importance from the noughties onwards. The XA Pro becomes a trailblazer for trail running and the technical standard for multisport races.

Running up that Hill: developing solid products

It is no coincidence that Salomon is pushing running in particular. The brand stands for a passion for outdoor sports - preferably right on your doorstep. With their incentive to help people develop the best version of themselves, they appeal to everyone who appreciates outdoor sports - regardless of whether they are recreational or professional athletes. Salomon's innovative technologies, which are developed in collaboration with athletes as part of the S/LAB products, are gradually being incorporated into the core collections. These include the ChassisSystem, which reduces rotational movement in the foot and ensures greater stability and control, and the ContaGRIP sole, designed for better traction on trails or asphalt. As the technical demands on new models increase, Salomon shoes such as the XT6 and Speedcross are finding their way into popular sports and street and high fashion.

Salomon's look to the future

But what use is all this forward-looking development if it has no permanence? Salomon has long since set the course for sustainability. The brand attaches great importance to minimizing the environmental impact of its products and relies on environmentally friendly solutions. For example, recyclable materials are used, such as in the fully recyclable Index Runners and the Brigade Index ski/snowboard helmet. Since 2020, Salomon has been conducting life cycle analyses to identify and minimize the environmental impact of water, energy, CO₂ emissions, and waste. The future goals are ambitious: Environmental performance will be displayed for 100% of products, and all new products will be developed according to circular economy criteria. By the end of 2025, Salomon wants to ban all fluorinated chemicals such as PFCs, PFOAs, and PFAS from its waterproof membranes and DWR treatments. By submitting its climate targets to the Science Based Targets Initiative, Salomon aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
